Course Outline:
Module 1: Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation
In this week, we uncover what mindfulness & meditation are and what they are not, as well as foundations of the practice and our primary grounding meditation. We also do a mindful eating practice and learn a few informal mindfulness tools to try throughout your week.
Module 2: The Mind & Our Thoughts
How do we start to notice the mind and cultivate more space between thoughts? In this module, we learn anchoring techniques and our primary sequence for noticing thoughts as well as complementary mindfulness tools to bring more awareness in our everyday lives.
Module 3: Body Sensations & The Body Scan
This week, we start to move into the body and learn about our own internal cues for various states as well as how to soften through the body in a relaxing and soothing body scan (various options are available).
Module 4: Mindful Breathing & Noticing Emotions
We move through several breathing techniques to regulate the body followed by an in-depth dive into our emotions including a sequence in how to be with all emotions instead of push them away.
Module 5: Mindful Communication & Walking Meditation
In our final week, we learn about mindful speech and listening as well as how to invite movement into our inward practice of meditation with a walking meditation.
